PSEmu Pro used to be the best free Playstation emulator available. Unfortunately it hasn't been updated in ages (last version is from February 1999) and there won't be any more updates as it has been discontinued. Because it's not updated for such a long time it's likely it won't work with recent games. Forget about running FF9 for example.
The emulator is also pretty hard to configure, even harder than ePSXe. It took a while for me to get the settings right so I could play games. When it does work, PSEmu Pro is reasonably fast. I could play WipeOut 2097 fine on my Celeron 466 Mhz., using the software graphics engine.
